Financial Aid
There are several financial aid programs available for graduate students to help meet the costs of an advanced education. Financial aid may be awarded in the form of loans from the state or federal government, and alternative loan programs from private lenders.

The financial aid staff and the Dean of the College of Graduate Studies review all applications and process financial aid necessary to help students meet their educational costs.
Eligibility
Applicants for need-based financial assistance from USP, such as Federal Loans, must be degree-seeking students enrolling in at least half-time credits (five credits per term for graduate students). Financial Aid staff will determine eligibility for awards based on financial need as determined by the US Department of Education by the information supplied on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). A financial aid award can only be made once a student has been regularly admitted to USP. Non-Matriculated students are not eligible for need-based assistance.
Application Procedure
In order to be considered for Federal student aid, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). It is highly recommended that you submit the FAFSA through the Web at www.fafsa.ed.gov. You can obtain a Personal Identification Number (PIN) that can be used as an electronic signature at www.pin.ed.gov.
If you would like to apply using a paper application, you can download a PDF of the FAFSA at http://fsa.ed.gov/fafsa_options.html. Or you can call (800) 4FED-AID, press "0" for a customer service and request a paper FAFSA be mailed to you.

Cost of Education
It is the student's responsibility to plan ahead, anticipate all costs, budget all resources, and request aid for the academic year. The basic budget (Cost of Education) for a year at USP should include tuition and fees, room and board, books and supplies, transportation, and a miscellaneous allowance for personal expenses.
Expected Family Contribution
The Expected Family Contribution (EFC) is the amount of financial support the student is anticipated to be able to contribute towards his/her education based on the information submitted on the FAFSA.
